Bio
After my PhD graduation in physical chemistry at University Claude Bernard in Lyon in 2008, I came back to my Alma Mater, Brno University of Technology. I started to work at the Department of Microelectronics and later at CEITEC BUT. My work was mainly focused on the synthesis and characterisation of new nanomaterials for sensors for medical and environmental applications. Since 2017, I have worked as a seconded national expert to the European Commission with a focus on the safety and sustainability of (nano)materials and chemicals, the development of nano-specific OECD test guidelines, implementation of zero pollution Research & Innovation activities under European strategies (e.g., Green Deal, Chemicals strategy for sustainability, etc.) and Research & Innovation support for the Chips Act.
What did Brno give you?
I moved to Brno in 2000 after escaping from the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, which was too big for me then. Brno is different. It is small and big enough at the same time. For me, it is the ideal city for studying, working, and family life. It gave me many career development opportunities, but also great possibilities for relaxing and practising sports.
3 things you love about Brno?
What I like about Brno is the accessibility of the forest and the city centre from my apartment in Žabovřesky. I like Brno because of its rich cultural life. And the big plus is that the city is clean and cozy.
