I graduated from the Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the field of Physical Engineering, where I obtained both an engineering and a doctoral degree.

After school, I joined Thermo Fisher Scientific and started my career as a manufacturing engineer, which was a great experience to get my hands on the real problems of electron microscope production. Next, through several roles and work experience in the Netherlands and China, I reached the role of Principal Architect for Beam Shaping.

I am proud to be part of the electron microscopy community and to push it forward – including in the form of patents obtained. For the last ten years, I have had the pleasure of teaching and passing on the experience gained in my work to students at my alma mater and at CEITEC MU, not only technical but also soft-skill, because the success of the team is a combination of human and technical aspects.

What did Brno give you?

Brno gave me a lot. First of all my wife. Inspiration at every moment and in every place.

If I look more broadly, I met a lot of inspiring, smart and open people in Brno. Brno also brings a lot of scientific institutions open for cooperation - Institute of Scientific Instruments, Institute of Physics of Materials and of course CEITEC BUT and MU.

3 things you love about Brno?

I love Brno's atmosphere – the spirit of a student city open to new ideas, full of small cafes and pubs.

Brno has beautiful nature with the dam, the Pálava and the Moravian Karst within easy reach.

The best thing about Brno is its people – lots of friends and people who love their city.
