Bio

I lead a senior group leader at the CEITEC Masaryk University and at University Hospital Brno. I am most interested in the microenvironmental interactions of CLL and lymphoma B cells, especially B-T cell interactions and B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling. I conducted post-doctoral work with Prof. Thomas Kipps (Univ. California-San Diego) and in Brno and contributed to the understanding of CLL cell migration and regulation, function, and targeting of CD20. In 2014 I was awarded the EHA Non-Clinical Research Award, and in 2018, the prestigious ERC grant.

What did Brno give you?

I was born in Brno, I studied general medicine and molecular biology at Masaryk University, and I very much appreciate the opportunity to get such a comprehensive education. After several years of working in the USA at the University of San Diego and Mayo Clinic, I returned to Brno and was able to start my own research group at the CEITEC of Masaryk University and the Internal Hematology and Oncology Clinic of the Brno University Hospital.

3 things you love about Brno?

Brno is the best place to live in the Czech Republic. Need I add anything? Anyway, my favorite things in Brno are the dam, the vineyards, and the JazzfestBrno festival.
