The latest data show that #brnoregion is among the European leaders in terms of innovation support
The latest data report also shows that the number of workers in corporate research and development has continued to grow in the region. In terms of full-time equivalent employees, this was up 10% year-on-year. The innovativeness of South Moravian companies is also related to the high share of workers in high-tech industries. It reached 7.3%, which puts the region on par with advanced European regions such as Flemish Brabant, Lisbon, Oslo, Utrecht or Hamburg, and Dresden. "High-tech specialists are attracted to the South Moravian Region by sectors such as internationally renowned optoelectronic equipment manufacturing and a wide range of software industries, including several world leaders. The region boasts major technology companies that attract investment and are growing rapidly," explains Jiří Hlavenka, the South Moravian Region's Councillor for Science, Research, Innovation, and IT.
According to the data report, 2022 has so far been a record year in terms of the amount of investment in technology companies that have been created in the region. Transactions worth €178.3 million took place, with the highest investment of €100 million for Kiwi.com, while other significant investments were made in Tatum Technology and Kentico Software. In terms of the growth rate of this volume of investment, the region is one of the fastest-growing ecosystems in Europe.
