How did you become involved with Brnoregion Microscopy?
I first stepped into the amazing world of electron microscopy in 2016 and have never really left. 😊 It all started with the coordination of Days of Electron Microscopy in Brno, which allowed me to gain more insight into the field, meet electron microscope manufacturers and scientists, and work together to figure out how to bring the field to the general public. And it was quite a challenge! As the community continued to grow, so did the number of activities I could be involved in.
What activities are you involved in within the community?
As a specialist in cooperation with the private and academic sector at the Brno City Municipality, my job is to meet with representatives of business, universities and research to find out their needs and to cooperate on projects that will help them attract talent to the region or establish business relations abroad. Electron microscopy is one of the region's key economic areas. I see the founding of industry platforms and collaborative clusters as very beneficial. It streamlines communication and the presentation of the industry itself.
What benefits does it bring to you?
Above all, I can be in touch with the community and get important feedback for the city. From a personal point of view, I find it very motivating to work with a group of enthusiasts who can see beyond the "front porch" of their company or laboratory and want to present Brno and the whole region through a unique industry that we are proud of. In this context, I must single out the "mother "and „father "of the Brnoregion Microscopy platform – Radka Martínková and Jan Neuman who are doing an amazing job!
Do you have any message for the community?
I believe that the community will grow and our common ambitious vision will be fulfilled: 'Whenever the world talks about electron microscopy, the first association will be #brnoregion and the Czech Republic'.
