People of Brnoregion Microscopy: Radka Novák (JIC)

How did you become involved with the Brnoregion Microscopy?

At the beginning of the year 2024, after my maternity leave, I was looking for a job with a meaning, with a mindset that "time is the most precious commodity". I was looking for a company where I could do both, where there would be people who put their heart into the work and have the drive to make things happen. When the job offer for the Coordinator of Brnoregion Microscopy at JIC came up, I didn't hesitate for a while! I fought for the position because I knew from my studies and my internship at Thermo Fisher Scientific how great the people in the Brno microscopy community are.

What activities are you involved in within the community?

I am the coordinator of Brnoregion Microscopy. I connect companies, research organisations and the public sector, managing the questions and needs of institutions and individuals from BM and connecting them to experts. Together with my colleagues from the JIC and representatives of the BM working groups, we create a safe space to meet and collaborate on topics such as microscopy community development, talent attraction, supply chains, commercialisation and spreading awareness of the achievements of the Brno microscopy sector. We are moving closer to the goal of the platform: whenever you say (electron) microscopy anywhere in the world, everyone thinks of Brno.

What benefits does it bring to you?

What an amazing and inspiring working environment! And the satisfaction of making sense of the project is incredible. It feels so special to be part of and join the initiative community that hold the strong pillars of the Brno microscopy field with a vision for the future. I truly believe that collaboration, networking and sharing of information, opportunities and experiences always lead to the benefit of all stakeholders, where 1+1=3!

Do you have any message for the community?

Brnoregion microscopy is the only ecosystem of its kind in the world, every third electron microscope produced in the world comes from Brno. But what is even more unique to me is the great vibe of the Brno microscopy community. Amazing people, experts, passionate about a common cause, they work beyond their main job simply because they see the platform as meaningful. If you feel you would like to be part of BM, get in touch. Together we will fit you right into the BM puzzle. Looking forward to meeting you!

Brnoregion Microscopy is community of companies, research and educational institutions developing the field of electron microscopy in cooperation with the city of Brno and the South Moravian Region.
